Startup TOOLS: Important information for updates

To update Startup TOOLS use the independent application GENIUS TOOLS Environment Administrator. This is opened withe the file gtsa.exe, which is located in the installdepot directory under gtsa-latest.

Please note that this process only updates the software in an operating environment, i. e. no changes are made to any data in

–the data packages (<operatingenvironment>\<application>\data\<datapackage>) or

–the resource folder (<operatingenvironment>\parametric\configuration\gt_resource_folder)

within an operating environment.

Data packages and resource folder, which contains for example the drawing frames, are customized to company-specific needs and must therefore be updated manually.

To get updates in the data, resource folder and Startup TOOLS configurations, two steps are necessary.

1.Installation of the required data packages:
The data is unpacked into the installation directory installdepot. There is no change to an operating environment.

2.Testing data packages:
Each file that is manually transferred from the installdepot to an operating environment must be checked for its effects. It is recommended to use a test environment and to check for each file whether the operating environment continues to behave as expected. Specifically, check any changes in the resource folder when updating GENIUS TOOLS for Creo.
